Flush Your freeze Dryer's Industrial Pump

The interior of your freeze dryer's vacuum pump can accumulate food particles and debris over time, which can affect the pump performance and even cause the pump fail to reach desired vacuum. Flushing the industrial pump with clean oil each time you change the oil is recommended to help remove any accumulated dirt inside the pump.

Steps to Flush Your Freeze Dryer Pump:

  1. Drain the Old Oil:

    • Ensure all the old oil is drained from the pump, completely empty it. Use the hex key to open the drain screw, allowing the oil to flow out. Securely tighten the screw back after draining.
  2. Prepare the Pump:

    • Turn off the pump switch.
    • Disconnect the pump from the back of the freeze dryer and connect it directly to a wall outlet.
  3. Detach the Vacuum Hose:

    • Remove the vacuum hose from the pump inlet; this inlet will be used to add clean oil.
  4. Add Clean Oil:

    • Slowly pour clean oil into the interface using a funnel. The pump inlet can only hold a very small amount of oil.
    • Fill the inlet with clean oil and then carefully remove the funnel.
  5. Flush the Pump:

    • Turn on the vacuum pump for about 2-5 seconds, let the clean oil flush through the pump.
    • Repeat this flushing step 4-5 times, using a small amount of oil each time to thoroughly clean the pump interior.
  6. Drain and Repeat if Necessary:

    • Use the hex key to remove the drain plug again, and drain the oil inside pump. If the oil is still dirty, continue the flushing process for an additional 4-5 times.
    • Repeat until the oil is clear.

Final Steps:

  • Once the drained oil becomes clear, the flushing process is complete. Reconnect the pump to the freeze dryer, ensuring it's ready for another operational cycle.

By meticulously following these steps, you can ensure that your freeze dryer's pump remains clean and functions efficiently, thereby extending its lifespan and maintaining the quality of your freeze-drying process.
